I have a 1999 Subaru Legacy Outback. Did they, Subaru, have problems with their TCMs. And if so what can be done or replacement of TCM. And does it pay to replace the cv axel with a non subaru axel.
Thank you for your inquiry. We only use OEM drive axels as nothing else has the quality and lasts as long. We offer a 12 month warranty on our OEM drive axels as well and this month we are offering a special on drive axels. You can view this on our Specials page. In regards to the TCM, Transmission Control Module, yes Subaru did have problems with the 1999s depending on whether the vehicle is a Type 1 or Type 2 (spin on filter or internal filter). There was some failure with both types. We have had good luck replacing them with quality used TCMs from wrecking yards. I hope this answers your questions. Please feel free to give us a call if we can assist you further.
